From sipthor at xplct.org Tue Jul 15 14:36:55 2025 From: sipthor at xplct.org (sipthor at xplct.org) Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2025 19:36:55 +0700 Subject: [SIP Beyond VoIP] personal email and sip setup with custom domain Message-ID: <7fae24fa-1ffe-4a19-acf9-e8d09cd90d46@xplct.org> Hi, I have created a free personal SIP2SIP and SIPThor Net account and looked around AG Projects websites and services a bit. Very impressive! And based in the Netherlands, like myself... My current setup: * Namecheap -hosted custom domain (mydomain.org) o setup to direct all email traffic to Forward Email + Forward Email: email traffic to email aliases (contact.or.company at mydomain.org) delivered to a main email alias through a catch-all (wildcard) email alias (*@mydomain.org) + Thunderbird: email account to receive emails from email aliases + Thunderbird: email dentities to send emails to email aliases Intended setup: * Namecheap -hosted custom domain (mydomain.org) o setup to direct all email traffic to Forward Email + Forward Email: email traffic to email aliases delivered to a main email alias through a catch-all (wildcard) email alias (*@mydomain.org) + Thunderbird: email account to receive emails from email aliases + Thunderbird: email dentities to send emails to email aliases o setup to *also* direct all SIP traffic to SIPThor Net + SIPThor NET: SIP traffic to SIP aliases (contact.or.company at mydomain.org) delivered to a main SIP alias through a catch-all (wildcard) SIP alias (*@mydomain.org) + baresip: SIP account to receive inbound calls/messages from SIP aliases + baresip: SIP account to make/send outbound calls/messages to SIP aliases So, any contact or company would have a single alias at mydomain.org to use for both email and SIP. */N.B.: I did read, that a free SIPThor Net account allows only 5 SIP aliases, so I might have to settle for e.g. myname at mydomain.org?and info at mydomain.org SIP aliases./* According to 'https://docs.sipthor.net/w/sip2sip/domain_enrollment/' Namecheap can be setup to also direct all SIP traffic to SIPThor Net by: o A. DNS zone served by a third-party: */NO (namecheap does not seem to support NAPTR records)/* o B. DNS zone delegated to SIPThor Net: *OK* o C. DNS zone served by SIPThor Net: *OK* + /*How to setup SIPThor Net to:*/ # /*direct all SIP traffic to a catch-all (wildcard) SIP alias (*@mydomain.org) or the 5 allowed SIP aliases*/ # /*ensure that SIPThor Net will direct all email traffic to Forward Email correctly*/ Met vriendelijke groet, Kind regards -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
