[Blink] very low speaker levels

Running blink 0.2.7 on Windows XP SP2 on Acer AOD250 netbook.

Audio output through headphones is fine but when I unplug them and use
built-in speakers, the level is so low I can barely discern it in a
quiet room.

All audio levels are adjusted to the max level.

Is there something I am missing here?
