i tried and set audio.sample_rate to 8000, but it didn't have any
positive effect:

        +-- alert_device = default
audio --|-- input_device = default
        |-- output_device = default
        |-- recordings_directory = recordings
        |-- sample_rate = 8000
        |-- silent = False
        +-- tail_length = 200

i can play many audio files at the same time using aplay command, so i
don't think that lack of audio sharing is the problem.
