Short version: package whatever is necessary to have Blink on Debian.
Long version: of course, to do this, I will have to go dependency per
dependency checking if it is already packaged for Debian.
If it is, check that it works with blinks or it's dependencies.
If not, I will have to check licenses, see if things are being installed
according Debian's python policies, etc. If something need to be corrected
(licenses, for example), I will have to ask upstream if they are willing to
correct it, except it's a simple and maintanable patch.
Once all the pre-packaging stuff is done, I'll have to fill the corresponding
ITP bugs, and do the packaging.
Although you have done a very nice packaging, as I will be doing the
maintainance for Debian (considering I already fullfilled the ITP bugs steps),
I'll have to go all over it checking it and maybe doing changes if necessary.
Once that is done, I ask a Debian Developer (DD) to sponsor the packagign. If
I am lucky, I may have the upload flag enabled, allowing me to upload any
update without having to resort on a DD, as I am already a Debian Maintainer
(DM).
Of course, all this can be done in a team-based way. This means that multiple
people can work in packaging, and the final verification and upload to
Debian's servers is left for a DD (or a DM in case of updates and if she/he is
allowed).
Please, do not heasitate in asking any other doubt it may arise, my final goal
is to have blink available in Debian ASAP, but I will surely not do it if
upstream (you in this case) doesn't want to or has any doubts. I prefer not to
package something if upstream is not confident and/or there is no good
relationship.
Regards, Lisandro.
