There are two methods of providing a tray icon now: the 'old'
standard method, and the new 'improved' method. Some desktop
providers, KDE and apparently now Gnome, support the new method out
of the box and you will need additional software to support the old
standard; for example in Cairo-Dock enable Notification Area Old.<br>
