[Blink] Audio Delay

Nick,

You might have overcome your immediate problem, but you've passed up a
significant opportunity. It sounds like you've learned nothing from
this process.

Blink works fine on the Mac. Blink is use daily by thousands of people
who don't report the trouble you've experienced. Unlike most SIP
clients, Blink has the Mac as a significant focus, releasing on Windows
later on.

There was something wrong with your installation. Think about the whole
signal chain. Where could seconds of delay occur? Where does the RTP
stream get buffered? That's a huge amount of delay!

Getting something to work is nice, even useful. Knowing why it works
(or doesn't) is incredibly valuable.

Michael

Hi

We already have a call centre setup since 2008 in a datacentre using an
Astersik install and of course as I keep saying lots of windows clients
using the box fine on very bad connections like USB sticks.

I found something called Jitsi; and with some help from somebody here
called H (thank u) we've got a zero delay !

Yay!

Nick,

You need to approach your troubleshooting in a different way. You have
indeed narrowed down to an issue with YOUR Blink install, but that
doesn't mean it isn't a network issue or an asterisk issue that only
manifests itself in the one software/equipment string. With so many
using Blink without an issue, you do understand that it could be
anything from other software you have running on your Mac to a setup
issue either on the Blink or Asterisk side settings (extension or
otherwise) for that particular device? It seems you just keep throwing
out the "1500 pound paperweight" emotional comment, as if that is
supposed to help narrow down an issue.

If you are setting up a call center, I would suggest you rethink your
strategy. I think you'll be far better off with a commercial solution
with professional technical support rather than a piece-meal
do-it-yourself (without the expertise to manage and maintain) attempt.

Do you know how frustrating this is??!

Please tell me why you think the problem is the asterisk box when i've
got a PC here that makes crystal clear calls all day long using the
same server and login info on the same broadband link as this Mac that
has the delay.

Someone with enough technical knowledge in Asterisk located on your
premisses is likely the only person who can help.

That's what you keep saying.

That's what Apple say.

Why do the PCs work fine?

It just can't be a network issue can it? Can you tell me how it can
when we've run this business 3 years with PCs which are still working
fine and I can't get this s/w to work in 3 locations now - delay delay
delay.

It just isn't the connection or the server, if it was the rest of my
staff would have the same problems, suzanne my sales manager is happily
chatting away all day long today fine. It's only me with the delay.

I can't see how you can blame anything other than the MAC and / or it's
SW

I really need some proper help, if I can't get it I have to sell this
and buy a Sony VAIO or something I don't want to do that, I want to
keep this, but I can't work on it...

Is there anything else you can do to help? Sensible answer only please

You are blaming Apple, Blink/Telephone but based on my experience you
are on the wrong track.

You need someone technical with experience in IP networks and/or
Asterisk to find the cause for your problem at your location.

This mailing list will most likely not be able to help you as the
problem has to do with your local network Asterisk setup rather than
your computer.

Hi everyone

I'm at a 3rd location today, central to a large town, it's one of our
offices.

I have 2 people here working fine on SIP phones using Windows and
Qutecom, today Im trying the macbook air / lion 10.1.7 again and the
same problem, delay of about 3 seconds making the calls almost
impossible

As this is the 3rd location I've tried, and telephone also doesn't work
(no delay but choppy), it has to be a problem either with the soft
phones or the OS. Apple are blaming the soft phones of course.

Speedtest here shows 11meg down and 1 meg up, jitter test shows grade B
line, excellent.

Here is the trace again for the last call, 3 sec delay.

Once again my acer laptop works fine here, it's just the mac. Desperate
for a fix as I travel in 4 weeks and this mac and blink will be going
in the bin and i'll be writing off 1500 pounds :( don't want to do that
can anyone help me?

(help me without blaming my connection, this is the 3rd location, the
acer windows 7 machine works fine again here)
